ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., April 24, 2007 – The Albuquerque Thunderbirds will be conducting auditions for the 2007-08 Storm Chasers Dance Team Saturday and Sunday, August 4-5 at Defined Fitness on 4930 McLeod NE. Registration and sign-in will take place between 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, immediately followed by auditions. Sunday’s session will consist of call-backs and will include one-on-one interviews and a final choreographed routine.

To pre-register, log on to abqtbirds.com or visit the Albuquerque Thunderbirds Office (111 Lomas Blvd. NW, Suite 240), Defined Fitness Locations, or Duke City Stars Dance Studio. There is a pre-registration fee of $10, or $15 on the day of auditions. Potential candidates must be at least 18-years-old and be a high school graduate. In addition to a physical and personal appearance evaluation, candidates will be judged on their ability to grasp choreographed dance routines, maintain a positive attitude and communicate effectively.

Applications must be returned to the Thunderbirds office prior to Friday, August 3 to qualify for the non-refundable $10 pre-registration fee. All applications after August 3 will be subject to the $15 registration fee, which is also non-refundable.

Additionally, the Thunderbirds have added a Storm Chasers pre-audition clinic, set for Friday, June 29 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, June 30, from noon to 2 p.m.. The two day clinic is $30 which includes the audition fee for tryouts in August. Attendees that participate in the clinic will be evaluated on what to be prepared for at the Storm Chasers auditions in August.

The Storm Chasers will be directed by Leslie Chant for a third season. Chant has 24 years of dance experience at different levels, including performing on the NBA’s Denver Nuggets dance team (Nuggets Dancers).

The Storm Chasers will perform high-energy, fast-paced routines, provide in-house game entertainment, as well as act as ambassadors in and around the community. The Storm Chasers will continue to make appearances throughout the year for private, civic and charitable events on behalf of the Thunderbirds.
