OMYF Named Outstanding Philanthropic Foundation
Orlando, Fla. – On Thursday, November 6 the Orlando Magic Youth Fund (OMYF) will be honored as the Outstanding Philanthropic Foundation by the Central Florida Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). Each year, the Central Florida Chapter of the AFP honors donors, volunteers and professionals whose gifts of time, expertise and resources contribute significantly to the quality of life in our communities. This year’s 23rd Annual National Philanthropy Day Awards will take place at the prestigious Ritz-Carlton Orlando Grande Lakes at 8:00 a.m. This event is an opportunity to publicly acknowledge and express appreciation for outstanding individuals, corporations and fundraising professionals in our community.
National Philanthropy Day acknowledges the entire spectrum of services that the nonprofit and civic and service sectors provide, as well as the profound impact that philanthropy has on the fabric of society. This annual event is also a fundraiser for the Central Florida Chapter of the AFP to provide scholarships and educational opportunities to further individual members’ professional development.
OMYF focuses on helping children in Central Florida realize their full potential, especially those most at risk, by supporting programs and partnerships that empower families and change lives. Since inception, nearly $14 million has been granted through OMYF, a fund of the McCormick Foundation, to local nonprofit organizations. This summer, the OMYF restructured its focus areas to better serve the community and make a greater impact in education (literacy); the arts; and health and wellness, specifically nutrition and exercise.
