Orlando Magic Celebrate 20 FANtastic Seasons with 20th Anniversary Events
ORLANDO, Fla. – Celebrating 20 FANtastic seasons, the Orlando Magic announced the start of multiple fan-interactive 20th Anniversary events:
Orlando Magic Dancers Reunion Performance
Orlando Magic Dancers from the past 20 seasons reunited to perform at halftime of the Sunday, March 15 game against the Utah Jazz. In total, 110 dancers and all five coaches from all over the United States, and as far away as California, made the trip for the reunion and performance. The group included dancers ranging in ages from 18-47 years old and included 14 original Magic Dancers from 1989. Current Magic Dancers Manager Jeanine Klem-Thomas, who has been with the team since 1995, said “It was an honor and a privilege to dance alongside so many amazing women from all 20 FANtastic seasons of the Orlando Magic.”
FANtastic Prizes Sweepstakes
The FANtastic Prizes Sweepstakes, presented by Kia Motors and EMBARQ, is a month-long contest to thank fans for their support of 20 years of Magic basketball and is currently running until April 5. The Orlando Magic announced the start of the top FANtastic players fan voting on orlandomagic.com, the team’s official Web site. The voting is broken down into two separate teams based on the decade they played for the Magic. Each voter will choose one center, one forward and one guard. At the end of the contest, the Blue and White fan-favorite teams, composed of the top center, the top two forwards and two guards for each team, will be created based on the top vote getters. The voting for the Blue and White fan-favorite teams will be revealed on “Magic Overtime with Dante and Galante” on April 17, which airs on WKMG Local 6 at 12:30 Friday night after “The Late Show with David Letterman.” Vote Now
Top-20 Magic Moments Fan Voting Revealed
Orlando Magic fans have voted and the results are in. In a special one-hour edition of Inside the Magic, viewers celebrated 20 years worth of Magic and relived the franchise’s most memorable moments as Sun Sports & FOX Sports Florida counted down the top-20 moments during the season finale of Inside The Magic, which aired immediately after the Magic’s game against the Jazz on March 15 on Sun Sports. Throughout the 2008-09 NBA season, fans were able to vote for their top Magic moment on the team’s Web site. Host Whit Watson unveiled the top-20 during Inside The Magic: Top 20 Moments in Magic History. The top moments voted by the fans were Nick Anderson stealing the ball from Michael Jordan, Dwight Howard’s alley-oop jam to beat the Spurs as time expired, Dwight “Superman” Howard stealing the show at the 2008 Slam Dunk Contest and when the Magic advanced to the 1995 NBA Finals.
